Banner Ads
Banner Ads are those ads you may see from time to time primarily when you are browsing a site that receives a high amount of traffic. They are either on the right hand side or at the top of the screen and tend to be animated in most cases with moving parts to catch the eye.
The main purpose for a Banner Ad is to increase the brand awareness of a particular product or service. It is quite similar in effect to many forms of main stream advertising such as television or radio where you may recall a catchy jingle which you associate with a specific company or service, or a scene which can have a similar impact whereby when asked which brand you choose of a particular product, the expectation is that of the product being heavily advertised.
Banner Ads are, in comparison to television and radio advertising, relatively inexpensive and have been the subject of much discussion regarding whether or not they are worth their money. Statistics are now showing that due to the fact that Banner Ad advertising interest has decreased significantly over the past few years that currently, the associated costs are comparatively inexpensive. There has also been talk of a number of large companies becoming advocates of Banner Ads and achieving a significant ROI.
Although this is the case in some instances, it still seems to be an
expensive proposition for most medium sized enterprise and for that matter,
most large enterprises.
