Submitting to the Search Engines

Many people are of the opinion that if you submit or resubmit your site to the major search engines it will be indexed on multiple occasions. And, that inturn will improve the sites' ranking in the major search engines. The short answer is no, it definitely doesn't help. If anything, it can work to the detriment of the sites' ranking and have you penalised.

If you have just submitted your site or are resubmitting it after you have made a number of changes, the next thing for you to do is practice the fine art of P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E!!! Your best bet is to submit your site and then forget about it for a while.

Wait for three months, and then do a reality check of the engine/s you have submitted to. I know that three months is probably too long for most people to wait, but if you don't like to be driven crazy, it's a good strategy. After three months, if your site has been optimised in the right way, you'll probably be pleasantly surprised to find that it has been indexed by all of the search engines you have submitted to.

And better yet…if you optimised them correctly they should be bringing in tons of highly targeted traffic!
